Patiently waiting.

I'm a sucker for animals in need. And so the argument with my wife now is to allow me to keep this little guy

This is a Virginia Opossum (Didelphis virginiana). Here in Washington state, they are considered an "introduced species" and they are. Brought to the west coast in 1910-ish they escaped and began breeding up and down the west coast. As such when animal rescuers take in babies from moms that have been hit by a car say. The law says they can't be released back into the wild. The options are to euthanize them or keep them as pets. So I am bringing one into my home to keep as a pet to give it a life. A number of sites online approve of this as an alternative to euthanasia. Our vet that we already use for the snakes, Dr Maas, is a big proponent of them as pets and has demonstrated time and again that the animals can be kept in a house quite successfully without a single sign of stress or neglect.

More info soon.
